5. What ... ?What is the DCA? The Delaware Career Association is a student organization created with the Jobs for Delaware Graduates program to help develop and enhance the Leadership, Social, Civic and Career skills of its student participants.
What is the DCA Competitive Events Day? Competitive Events Day is a DCA activity which challenges 11th and 12th grade JDG participants to be the best at job attainment and life skills and to attain a gold, silver or bronze medal for their high school's DCA Chapter. Competitions are scheduled throughout the day to allow selected students to display their proficiency and professionalism in mock job interviews and telephone conversations with potential employers, response to a job situation, comprehension and teamwork capabilities, presentation of career planning research and much more.
What exactly is meant by "JDG Specialist"? A JDG Specialist presents the JDG curriculum in the classroom; counsels and mentors JDG participants. JDG personnel, in cooperation with school administrators, select the JDG Specialist. The Specialist position requires at least a bachelor's degree, two years of full-time paid work experience, a satisfactory criminal background check, and a negative pre-employment drug test result. Specialists must meet the State Department of Education certification standards as a school-to-work transition teacher within two years of their employment.
